Overview

The day will focus on improving diabetes and pregnancy care for women of Black, African and African Caribbean heritage living with diabetes in the UK, drawing on practical work already carried out within Guy’s and St Thomas’ and Lewisham and Greenwich services, and funded by the Burdett Trust for Nursing.Ā The emphasis will be on hands-on learning and applying tools that support culturally sensitive care in everyday practice.

This event is for:

  • Nurses and midwives interested in diabetes and maternity care
  • Service managers and clinical leads responsible for quality and improvement
  • Health and social careĀ professionals with an interest in reducing inequalities in diabetes and maternity care

 

Participants will:

  • Learn how equity-focused tools are being used in NHS services
  • Build practical skills for culturally sensitive conversations about diabetes, pregnancy and food
  • Gain insight into how teams are making progress visible in everyday practice
  • Discuss how the collection and analysis of data can be used to guide evidence-based service improvements
