Research Advisor
I am one of the Research Advisors for the RCM and a PhD researcher at Kingston University. My NHS midwifery career includes being employed as an integrated midwife, where community-based care was my preference, a research midwife and a vaccination midwife. I co-lead led the activity of the RCM Research Team and am really motivated to help midwives get involved in research and for the RCM to be able to support them on their journey. I experienced a lack of role models when I undertook independent research whilst working for the NHS. My PhD topic is weight stigma of higher weight women during maternity care. I am following a co-production approach and am working with a Research Collective. I have taken a qualitative approach and interviewed, by Teams, women during their pregnancies and their postnatal period. I have used creative methods in my analysis and findings which has involved writing poetry.
