Royal College of Midwives (RCM) members working in the Isle of Man are being urged to have their say as a consultation opens today on a three-year pay offer from Manx Care.

The RCM, alongside other staff side unions, has been in collective negotiations with Manx Care, facilitated by the Manx Industrial Relations Service (MIRS), and is now asking members to vote on the offer.

The proposed deal covers the period 2026-2029 and includes:

  • 1.75% plus CPI 2.9% calculated in September 2025 = 4.65% pay offer for 2026/27
  • 1.5% plus CPI in 2027/28 and
  • 1.25% plus CPI in 2028/29.

While multi-year pay agreements are not normally entered into, this offer has been put forward by Manx Care to provide greater certainty over the next three years. Following negotiations, staff side unions believe this is the best achievable outcome from these meetings and are encouraging members to review the details carefully before casting their vote.

Dr Dale Spence, Director of RCM Northern Ireland, said: “This consultation is an important opportunity for members in the Isle of Man to have their say on this pay offer. We would encourage all eligible members to review the details carefully and make sure their voice is heard by taking part in the ballot.”

The consultation ballot opens on Wednesday 29 April, and closes at 11.59pm on Thursday 7 May. Members are encouraged to read the full pay offer information, including the employer’s pay comparison spreadsheet, before voting.

Members can cast their vote via the consultation link sent by email.
