The Royal College of Midwives (RCM) is the professional organisation and trade union for midwives, maternity support workers and student midwives across the UK. We work to improve maternity services, support the midwifery workforce and ensure women, babies and families receive safe, high-quality care.
How the RCM media team can help
The RCM media team supports journalists with:
- Expert comment on maternity services, pregnancy, birth and postnatal care
- Insight into midwifery workforce issues, staffing, training and retention
- Policy positions and responses to government announcements and reports
- Case studies, briefings and background information
- Access to RCM spokespeople, including senior leaders and subject experts
We will always do our best to help with media enquiries. If we are unable to comment on a particular issue, we may be able to signpost you to another relevant organisation or source.

For urgent media enquiries only, this number can be used outside of office hours. Please note that we are a small team, so out-of-hours contact should be reserved strictly for urgent requests.
