A workforce under pressure
We asked our members about staffing levels, workload and working hours during the week of 1-7 June 2026. More than 3,500 maternity staff responded - and the results showed that 93% felt unsafe staffing levels affected the quality of care they could provide. The survey results show a clear picture of the pressures facing our members and maternity services across the UK.
