Overview

Stronger hearts, safer births

The UKMCS is delighted to host our second annual Midwives’ symposium in collaboration with the RCM. Join us for this free, online, inspiring conference for midwives, to explore the latest hot topics relating to maternal cardiology. This programme has been designed for all midwives, not just those already involved in complex clinics or maternal medicine, to enhance your everyday practice. It will equip midwives with essential knowledge, confidence, and tools to deliver safer, equitable care.

Led by experts in the field, the symposium programme includes:

  • Learning from latest MBRRACE cardiac cases
  • Pregnancy planning for women with a known cardiac condition
  • Genetic screening and PIGT for ICCs
  • Cardiac causes of chest pain in pregnancy
  • Updates in management of hypertensive disorders of pregnancy
  • Latest research in maternal cardiology

Confirmed speakers include:

  • Dr Anita Banerjee (UKMCS President), Consultant Obstetric Physician
  • Dr Anna Herrey, Consultant Cardiologist
  • Dr Ferha Saeed, Consultant Obstetrician
  • Dr Dawn Adamson, Consultant Cardiologist
  • Haleema Saadia, Patient Trustee, Aortic Dissection Awareness
  • Tahni-Ann (Tin) Wilson, Registered Genetic Counsellor

‘Great webinar with excellent speakers’

‘It was fantastic!’

‘Really thoughtfully put together as a study afternoon, enjoyable and easy to attend. Being able to gain knowledge from a range of experts was brilliant. Can see how the extra knowledge can be used in practice.’

‘I had very little knowledge about cardiac conditions before. But we are seeing more pregnant women with cardiac conditions, persistent tachycardia and shortness shortness of breath. The event was really informative and will definitely change my practice going forward. It was presented well at a level I could understand.’
