Dalvir Kandola

Dalvir Kandola, Consultant Midwife – Lead for Inclusivity at University Hospitals of Leicester has 15 years’ experience in healthcare. She specialises in cultural diversity, supporting one of the most diverse cities in the country to provide inclusive care within perinatal provision. Dalvir leads on developing the best approach to tackling health inequalities and enacting quality improvement initiatives which underpin the equality, diversity and inclusivity agenda. As an expert in this field, she works proactively on service redesign, empowering midwives, obstetricians and neonatal staff to meet the needs of the local population. Dalvir is also a CORE20PLUS5 ambassador and holds an additional role as an Nursing Midwifery Council Fitness to Practice Panel Member, upholding the reputation of her profession and ensuring high professional standards.

Dalvir has supported the shaping of the new RCM research strategy and has worked with organisations such as the National Institute of Health and Care Research, Race Health Observatory and Institute for Healthcare Improvement on research related activities.

Dalvir has also worked in higher education, designing programmes and teaching students and has shared good practice examples in a number of successful publications in a range of journals as well as contributing to a textbook in the supervision of students in clinical practice. Dalvir has supported education abroad, teaching obstetric emergencies in Bucharest and supporting a midwifery course as link tutor in Athens. Dalvir received a distinction in her Post Graduate Certificate in Higher Education and is a Senior Fellow of Advance HE which demonstrates her comprehensive understanding and effective practices in teaching and learning.
