IDM 2025
The International Day of the Midwife celebrations were once again remarkable this year. The theme, “Midwives: Critical in Every Crisis,” underscored the vital role midwives play in the most challenging situations, including during the COVID-19 pandemic, in war zones, and amidst humanitarian crises. This theme was brought to life during the IDM webinar, where two midwives shared their experiences working in Sudan and Ukraine.
Local workplace events featured the beloved tea and cake celebrations, along with a diverse array of foods from various cultures around the world. A photo board displayed memories of staff during the COVID-19 pandemic, adding a personal touch to the festivities. The celebrations also included numerous learning opportunities, with guest speakers discussing their work and sharing valuable insights. Additionally, attending local park runs was encouraged, promoting health and community spirit.
Participants also had the chance to learn about midwifery education around the world. This included exploring different educational systems and programs that prepare midwives to meet international standards.
