Overview

The power of education and research: strengthening the midwifery communityĀ

At the RCM education and research conference 18-19 March 2026, we are highlighting the vital contributions of midwives, student midwives and MSWs/MCAs working in education and research. These two pillars not only underpin practice but also serve as the driving force behind a strong, connected community, one that champions the wellbeing of women and families across the UK.

The conference has shared plenary sessions which include both education and research and breakout parallel sessions that focus on either education or research.Ā Ā The conference will have both invited speakers and those who have submitted an abstract that has been accepted for presentation along with panel discussions for delegates and Q&As.Ā

Abstracts

We encourage submissions that support the overall theme of strengthening the midwifery community through research and education.

Why should I submit an abstract?

  • To disseminate and profile your work
  • To enhance research in midwifery
  • To inform your peers about positive, innovative approaches to improve midwifery education
  • To promote the translation of research into education and practice
  • To get support feedback/critique from your peers

We invite you to submit an abstract of no more than 500 words (in English) for consideration as either an oral presentation or a poster.Ā Your abstract must specify the aims of your innovation, Ā project, research, your research processes or methodology, the main outcomes/results obtained and the main conclusions. Please identify if you required and received ethical approval.

All abstractsĀ will be reviewed by our judging panel, who will be looking to accept submissions that display high levels of innovation, relevance to current and/or best practice and provide high-quality research/evidence or practice.
