Dr Michael WestĀ leading clinical teams to excellence

This webinar talks about invigorating and inspiring clinical leaders to engage and re-engage withĀ leadershipĀ and leading teams. There is a significant national focus on maternity services (Ockenden 2022; Kirkup 2023). Culture and the leadership within organisations and in the clinical care setting are repeatedly highlighted as issues impacting on safe and effective care. This webinar supports those involved with leading in the clinical setting, such as Band 7 coordinators, managers and team leaders, matrons and all midwives delivering clinical care to explore their understanding of leadership, compassion and courage. Leading to excellence is something that every practitioner in maternity should see themselves as part of and having influence over.

Slides

This webinar inspired clinical leaders to understand the impact of covid-19 on the resilience of themselves and their teams-what impact might this have on delivering high quality, effective maternity care. Dr Michael looked at:

  • How do you as a leader influence your team to perform?
  • How can you do this in the current climate of maternity services?
  • What might ā€˜effectiveā€™ and ā€˜excellenceā€™ look like within your team? How can you shape this?
  • What does it mean to have courage and compassion? What does this look like on the shop floor of delivering direct clinical care?
