This module is primarily intended for maternity support workers working at Level 4 (first stage of higher education study) but will also be of interest to other MSWs and student midwives.  The module is designed to help maternity support workers develop their knowledge and skills to recognise a woman that may be deteriorating in the clinical area or community setting. The development of these skills will then allow the support worker to confidently summon appropriate assistance from midwives and doctors.  Level 4 activities are clearly identified throughout the module.
