Health inequalities and the social determinants of health

Health inequalities exist within our society, and every country in the world. These inequalities affect everyone, including you, your friends, family, colleagues and the women you care for. Midwives and others working in maternity services are in a position to contribute to reduce this imbalance.
This module will:
- Provide an overview of the scale of health inequalities worldwide and in the UK
- Provide an understanding of social determinants of health and its causes
- Broaden your understanding of the causes of ill-health and introduce new ways to think about why health inequalities exist.
